A woman was critically injured, and a neighbor who rescued her suffered minor injuries in a house fire in Camarillo Thursday

Fire investigators are still trying to nail down the cause of an early morning house fire which critically injured a Ventura County woman, and sent a neighbor who rescued her to the hospital as well. The blaze was discovered at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at a home on the 1800 block of Ramona Drive in Camarillo.

A neighbor pulled a woman who lived in the burning home out before firefighters reached the scene. The victim, who is in her 70’s, suffered second and third degree burns, and was reported to be in critical condition. The rescuer also had to be taken to a hospital for treatment due to her exposure to smoke and flames.

Firefighters knocked down the flames in about a half hour.
