Death Of Ventura County Jail Inmate Now Being Called A Homicide

The death of a Ventura County jail inmate is now being called a homicide.

On October 25th, Michael Lanos Torres was found unresponsive in his cell at the County’s Pre-Trial Detention Facility. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was done, and Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives say the 61 year old Oxnard man died as a result of injuries he suffered in his cell. Investigators say his cellmate is the suspect in the death, but his name hasn’t been released yet.

It’s the second fatal attack at the County’s Pre-Trial facility in the last two months.
