Fishing Boat Temporarily Stranded At South Coast Harbor; No One Hurt

No one was hurt, but there was a lot of excitement at Ventura Harbor early Thursday morning when a fishing boat became stranded on a sandbar.

Authorities received reports at around 4 a.m. that a large boat was in trouble near the mouth of the harbor.

Emergency teams were deployed and a swimmer was sent to the apparently stranded fishing boat. Ventura County Fire Department officials say they discovered the 60 foot long craft had become stranded on a sandbar, and no one was hurt.

Around 5:30 a.m., firefighters aided by a second boat were able to free the stuck craft.
