California Lutheran University has received the largest donation in its more than half century long history.

Former Hughes Electronics executive Steve Dorfman is making a six million dollar donation towards the construction of a new home for Cal Lutheran’s School of Management.

Plans call for a two story, 27,000 square foot building on the university’s Thousand Oaks campus. The $18 million dollar project, which be named after Dorfman,  would combine currently separated classrooms and faculty offices in one facility.

Dorfman managed various parts of Hughes over the years, and was involved in projects ranging from the creation of Direct TV to landing space probes on Venus.
