A former research chemist who was one of the most generous donors to California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks has died.
James Swenson gave $12 million dollars over the decades to various building projects on the university’s main campus.
The Swenson Center for the Social and Behavioral Sciences has his name. A new Cal Lutheran science center under construction will be named the Swenson Science Center.
Over the decades, he has provided nearly $4 million dollars in scholarships to more than 120 students. Swenson died as the result of pancreatic cancer.
He was 81 years old.
