Man Gets 10 Year Prison Sentence For Investment Fraud Scheme In Ventura County

A Ventura County man who served prison time for securities fraud now faces a new 10 year sentence for investment fraud.

Ventura County prosecutors say James Leroy Johnson pled guilty to a half dozen charges including grand theft and theft from an elder. They say he bilked would be investors out of more than a million dollars.

Johnson moved to Ventura County in 2012, after being released from prison for a securities fraud conviction. Prosecutors say he told his victims he was a successful day trader, and never admitted he was an ex-convicted recently released from prison.

Johnson told his victims his investment company was well funded, but used their money for personal purposes. His victims included six elderly women.
