We do it every day, without thinking about it.  How was your weekend?  What happened at work?  We are all storytellers.

But, for the next two weeks, some master storytellers are coming to the South Coast for a series of events.  The Ojai Storytelling Festival is celebrating its 18th anniversary with events in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.

Brian Bemel is founder, and Executive Director of the Ojai Storytelling Festival.  He says this year, they’ve teamed up with UCSB’s Arts and Lectures to hold an event on campus.

It’s called the Ojai Storytelling Festival on Tour.  Bemel says Sunday’s event at UCSB, and the festival the following weekend in Ojai are headlined by Diane Ferlatte, who’s one of the biggest names in the art form.

The Festival will feature storytellers Diane Ferlatte, Kevin Kling, Willy Claflin, Clare Murphy, poet Glenis Redmond, musician Scott Ainslie, the mine troupe the Chameleons, and some storytellers from the NPR radio program “The Moth”.

The Ojai Storytelling Festival on Tour event takes place at UCSB’s Campbell Hall at 3 p.m. Sunday.  The Storytelling Festival takes place the following week, October 25th through 28th, at various venues in Ojai.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
