UC System, Including UC Santa Barbara, To Say Adios To Fossil Fuel Use

The University of California system announced today that it will end its use of electricity created with fossil fuels by 2025.

The commitment to move to clean, renewable power sources includes the UC system’s 10 campuses, including UC Santa Barbara, as well as the five UC medical centers.

The plan also includes reducing energy use in campus facilities. The effort was championed by the student advocacy group CALPIRG, which is working to get 65 campuses nationwide to commit to 100% clean and renewable energy use.
