With New White House Energy Policy, South Coast Environmental Groups Prepare To Push Back

Since the 1969 offshore oil platform accident, there's been a focused effort by environmentalists to review and stop many drilling projects in local waters.

Now, with a new energy policy from the White House, there's a concern that Santa Barbara County could see 750 new on-shore wells in the Cat Canyon area of Los Alamos.

Two groups, Food and Water Watch and Santa Barbara Action Network, are holding frequent rallies and town hall meetings.

Two meetings will take place this week in support for renewable and clean energy sources and a pushback against new drilling plans.

Pro-oil workers say they can produce the wells with modern, safe, and clean technology.
