A Santa Barbara County man will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole for the brutal murders of four family members.
Nicholas Holzer was sentenced Friday for the 2014 stabbing deaths of his 10 and 13 year old sons, and his parents in the family’s Goleta home.
The now 49 year old man had pled not guilty by reason of insanity. Holzer told a psychiatrist that he killed his family to save them from what he called “eternal damnation.” A judge ruled Holzer was mentally ill, but not insane.
He sentenced the killer to four consecutive life in prison without the possibility of parole sentences.
