Prosecutors Haven't Decided Whether They Will Seek Death Penalty In Goleta Triple Murder

Santa Barbara County prosecutors say they haven’t decided yet whether they will seek the death penalty, or life in prison without the possibility of parole for the man charged with the brutal murders of three members of a Goleta family. Prosecutors say they will probably make the decision after a preliminary hearing for Pierre Haobsh.

The 26 year old man was formally charged yesterday with murder with special circumstances, which opens the door for the death penalty. He was arrested in San Diego County Friday for last week’s murders of Dr. Weidong Han, his wife Huijie, and their five year old daughter Emily.

Autopsy results released yesterday indicated that all three of the victims died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Investigators say Haobsh was a business associate of the doctor, and believe the killings were financially motivated.
