Man Shoots Himself In South Coast Salon; Authorities Think He Might Be Serial Bank Robber

A man authorities say shot himself to death in the bathroom of a South Coast beauty salon may be a wanted serial bank robber.

A man armed with a gun robbed a Goleta bank just before 11 this morning. A few minutes later, a man showed up at a salon on the 100 block of Carlo Drivea and asked to use a restroom. When he failed to come out, employees called 911.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies evacuated the building, and went into the bathroom where they found the man, who had apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators are trying to determine if he could be a serial bank robber who has struck at last four times around the state. The man’s name hasn’t been released.
