Home Delivery Service In Ventura County Serving Up Heroin; 30 People Arrested

It worked like a pizza delivery service in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, but authorities say what it brought to homes was much more dangerous. In January, Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives learned that an LA based delivery service was bringing heroin to homes in Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, and Simi Valley. Their investigation has led to 30 arrests.

They say in some cases, the deliveries were to heroin users. But, in other cases, people would have enough delivered that they could resell some to pay for their addiction.

Detectives arrested Jose Zepeda of Los Angeles, who they say was the operator and dispatcher of the services, as well as three drivers. Four people were arrested in Ventura County on charges they were buying heroin from the mobile delivery service, and then acting as street dealers.

And, 22 people detectives say were customers of the service were arrested for use or possession of heroin. A pound of heroin was seized, along with $80,000 in cash, three vehicles and 10 guns.
