Two Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies Injured Trying To Arrest Pursuit Suspect

Two Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies were injured when they tried to arrest a man following a wild car chase in a remote area of the county.

Deputies received a call at around 11 Thursday night about a wrong-way driver on Highway 166 near New Cuyama . They spotted the vehicle, but when they tried to stop it the driver sped away from the scene. The driver left New Cuyama and drove into a farm field. He abandoned the vehicle when it became stuck, and officers say he then tried to steal one of their patrol cars, damaging it in the process.

Louis Lovallo was finally taken into custody, but not before he fought with officers, leaving two with minor injuries. The 20 year old Torrance man is facing a half dozen charges from DUI to resisting arrest with force.
