A man who is a suspect in a murder on the Central Coast is in the hospital after being shot in a confrontation with police.
Lompoc Police were called to the Santa Ynez Riverbed area at around 6 a.m. Sunday by reports of a murder. They found a body, and witnesses gave them the description of a possible suspect.
About an hour later, officers spotted a man matching the description near A Street, and Airport Avenue. When police tried to stop him, they say he opened fire with a gun, and they returned fire, wounding him.
No officers were hurt. Neither the name of the victim nor the suspect have been released yet.
