Boy At Center Of Amber Alert In Santa Barbara County Now Orphan; Closest Relatives May Be In Russia

Daniel Morozov was the focus of an Amber Alert, and lost both of his parents within 24 hours

Authorities say a Santa Barbara County boy orphaned this week when his father apparently killed his mother, and the father was shot to death by police.

Daniel Morozov’s closest relatives might be in Russia.

Natalia Morozov was murdered Monday night in Santa Maria. The shooting led to an Amber Alert because her husband, a suspect in the killing, took the couple’s nine year old son and fled.

Tuesday night Los Angeles police found the husband, Konstantin Morozov, at an Encino apartment complex. Officers fatally shot him during a confrontation outside of the building. Investigators say Morozov was armed with a gun.

Friends say Natalia feared for her life, and had gone to a shelter several times in the past.
