New Ventura County Grand Jury Report Commends Efforts To Stop Human Trafficking, But Calls For More

A new Ventura County Grand Jury report commends a task force in the county which has been fighting human trafficking, and suggests some additional steps to battle the problem.

The report notes that human trafficking isn’t just an international or national problem, but that it exists in our area as well.

It says that some massage parlors in the county act as fronts for illegal sexual activities.

The Grand Jury is recommending that better efforts be made to coordinate county and city massage parlor ordinances, because some of the businesses are using loopholes between the two to operate.

The report also calls for more to be done to reach out in different languages to the community about help that’s available for those being trafficked.

It says many victims of sex trafficking in the county are from China and Taiwan, and don’t speak English.
