South Coast Foundation Hands Out More Than $6 Million Dollars In Scholarships

A more-than-half-century-old foundation has awarded more than $6 million dollars in scholarships to students in Santa Barbara County.

The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara gave out nearly 1800 scholarships this year.

The coronavirus crisis threw a twist into the scholarship awards this year, as the Foundation was unable to hold its traditional ceremonies for the scholarship recipients at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.

Despite the lack of a ceremony, the students will still be receiving the financial help.

Of the six million dollars awarded this year, $2.9 million will go to students in Northern Santa Barbara County, and $3.1 will go to students from Southern Santa Barbara County.
