As Students Stay Home, South Coast Library System Begins Offering Free Online Tutoring

As more and more schools get ready for extended online learning, one South Coast library system is also moving online - with tutoring.

The Ventura County Library’s new remote access system, which they’re calling Brainfuse, is host to a number of free features.

Deputy Library Director Dana Vinke says that the main draw is one on one remote tutors, but there’s other options as well.

“They have so many other resources available, they have multi-language support, they have flash cards, they have writing labs, and they even have a whole section available for adult learners,” Vinke says.

Vinke says that the Library had been planning on moving to the online system even before the Coronavirus crisis, and they hope to keep it going: “Moving forward, we hope to keep it available for our community way past the time when schools open up.”

The Brainfuse system is available to students of all ages with a Ventura County Library card.
