Governor Sets Stage For Barbershops, Hair Salons, Nail Salons To Operate Outdoors

The governor has some good news for people like barbers and hair stylists on the Central and South Coasts.  He announced the state is opening the door for some personal care businesses like hair salons, barbershops, and nail salons to operate outdoors.

State officials say they’ve been working on the issue for some time, but that because chemicals can be involved developing guidelines was complex.

Last week’s shutdowns because of the coronavirus surge drew protests from some in the personal services field.   They argued they should be able to offer outdoor services like restaurants.

The 11-page order includes requirements like the person providing the service must wear a mask at all times as must the person receiving it.  Tents can be used, but they can’t be fully enclosed.
