Coronavirus Surfaces At Juvenile Hall On Central Coast

Coronavirus has surfaced at a juvenile hall facility on the Central Coast.

Four youths and two staff members have tested positive for the virus at the Santa Barbara County Probation Department’s Santa Maria Juvenile Hall.

The facility currently has about two dozen young adults staying there.  To help prevent the spread of coronavirus, all of the youths and staff members have been tested.

The youths who’ve tested positive have been shifted to a medical unit in the facility, while all new kids brought to juvenile hall will stay in an isolated intake area for 14 days to ensure they don’t bring coronavirus into the facility.
