Relief Fund For Undocumented Workers, Families On Central, South Coasts Gets Million Dollar Donation

A fund which is helping undocumented workers, and their families on the Central and South Coasts cope with the coronavirus crisis received a huge donation.

The 805 Undocufund received an anonymous million dollar gift, bringing the total in the fund for coronavirus relief to $2.6 million.

The workers include people who work in places like restaurants, bars, hotels, and motels. The Undocufund is already sending out $1200 checks to some hard hit families in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

More than 7,000 people in the two counties who’ve lost their jobs have applied for help through the fund.

While the fund currently has $2.6 million dollars to help undocumented workers, and their families in the region impacted by the crisis, the goal is to raise six million dollars.

The fund was created as a result of the Thomas Fire and Montecito debris flow to help undocumented workers who were not eligible for traditional government aid.
