The Santa Maria Elks Rodeo parade has been moved to September 26th because of coronavirus concerns

A nearly eight decade old Central Coast tradition won’t take place this spring as usual because of coronavirus, but organizers are hoping to hold it later this year.

The Santa Maria Elks Rodeo had been scheduled for May 28th-31st.  It’s been moved to September.  Plans call for it to take place September 24th through 27th, with the annual rodeo parade now set for September 26th

It’s one of the largest community celebrations on the Central Coast.  The event is set to celebrate its 77th anniversary this year.

The rodeo is one of the major events on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit.
