One of the first big running events in the region since the pandemic started last year, returns this weekend. The Shoreline Marathon is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

The Shoreline Marathon returns Sunday, one of the first big running events to return to the region since the pandemic.

Runners will cross the start line at 7am in Ventura.

The organizer, Bill Escobar from Elite Sports California, says they’re in for a picturesque run.

"This particular run is all along the old Rincon Highway. It's 99% beach views. It's really beautiful," he told KCLU.

"It's a certified Boston qualifier, which means it's measured correctly to the centimeter."

Escobar says the event also raises money for community youth projects.

There’s also a half marathon, a 10k and a 5k for those of us who perhaps won’t make the full distance!

Caroline joined KCLU in October 2020. She won LA Press Club's Audio Journalist of the Year Award in 2022 and 2023.

Since joining the station she's won 7 Golden Mike Awards, 4 Los Angeles Press Club Awards and 2 National Arts & Entertainment Awards.

She started her broadcasting career in the UK, in both radio and television for BBC News, 95.8 Capital FM and Sky News and was awarded the Prince Philip Medal for her services to radio and journalism in 2007.

She has lived in California for ten years and is both an American and British citizen - and a very proud mom to her daughter, Elsie.
