Graduates from Cal Lutheran University will take part in a graduation ceremony with a difference on Saturday. A drive-in style event has been arranged, to keep the event COVID-safe.

It’s the culmination of their hard work – and each graduate from Cal Lutheran will be celebrated in an event inspired by the drive-in concerts hosted at Ventura County Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Karissa Oien is the manager of Faculty Affairs at Cal Lutheran.

She explained that students and their families are going to come together by car to the event.

"Think of drive-in movie style, back in the day," says Oien.

However, the graduates will be able to leave their cars to walk across the stage in their gowns.

Oien says the ceremony is the culmination of the students hard work and proud moment for their families.

Cal Lutheran is the parent of KCLU.

Caroline joined KCLU in October 2020. She won LA Press Club's Audio Journalist of the Year Award for three consecutive years in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
