Popular event returns in May

The Thursday night Farmers Market in Downtown San Luis Obispo is one of the biggest in the region.

It’s been closed for over a year, because of the pandemic.

Whitney Chaney, the Program Director with the Downtown SLO orghanization says although it’s back next week, the market will still be limited.

"Our market shut down when everything else shut down back in March 2020," she told KCLU.

"We are returning in a limited format, starting May 6."

The first phase of the market's reopening will not have entertainment or meals available for purchase and all visitors will be required to wear masks at all times, remain socially distanced, and not gather.

Eating and drinking will not be permitted within the market boundaries.

The market will take place Thursday from 6 to 9 pm within a reduced footprint - on Higuera Street from Chorro to Osos.
