A two day outreach effort is underway to encourage Ventura County commuters to use the train for their daily ride to work in Santa Barbara and Goleta.
SBCAG, the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments, along with Traffic Solutions, set up information tables and served tacos at the main train station on Tuesday.
They took that opportunity to explain schedules, free ground transportation options, and benefits of taking the train versus a car.
One resident said she would use the train recreationally because of the price and the convenience.
"I love the train," she said, "there's Wi-Fi, I can do work, it's gorgeous, a gorgeous trip on the train down to Ventura."
The Metropolitan Transit District also sent representatives, telling riders that once they have their train passes, they can use the shuttles and the buses for free around Santa Barbara and Goleta.
