Changes In Store For Major South Coast Library

Big changes are in store for a major library on the South Coast.

The Santa Barbara Library is increasing security, adding programs, and cutting fines.

Library Director Jessica Cadiente says that the city is funding more surveillance cameras in and around the building, and a new code of conduct sign has been posted as well.

Next week the library will also have a coordinated hookup with the International Space Station, open to the public at the Faulkner Gallery.

Twelve children will be able to ask questions to the astronauts working at the station.

The library will also be cutting out fines for late returns, but that doesn't mean they dont want their books back!

They will be sending letters out to anyone who doesn't return their books, and could eventually escalate that to revoking library priveleges.
