Change In Library Management In Santa Barbara County Means Some Will Need Updated Library Cards

There’s a major change in the works for library service in Santa Barbara County, one which will require some people to update their library cards. The Santa Barbara Public Library will no longer manage the Buellton, Solvang, Los Olivos, and Santa Ynez Libraries. Oversight is shifting to the Goleta Valley Public Library.

It means that library users in the Santa Ynez Valley will have to update their Black Gold Library cards. Black Gold will institute a block on people checking out materials at the Valley libraries starting Wednesday until the customer updates their account.

New cards are available at the Goleta, Buellton, and Solvang libraries.

The Santa Barbara Library will continue to manage the Santa Barbara Central and Eastside Libraries, as well as the Carpinteria and Montecito branch libraries.
