Money From Fundraising Concert On South Coast Pays For New Mobile Response Unit

Fire, sheriff, and police agencies in Santa Barbara County are getting new equipment after the “One805 Kick Ash Bash” earlier this year.

The event began as a fundraiser after the Thomas fire and Montecito mudflow disasters.

It featured a lineup of local superstars including Kenny Loggins, Alan Parsons, David Crosby, Ellen DeGeneres, Dennis Miller and Katy Perry.

The event raised $2 million in donations, which is now being distributed to emergency responders.

Thursday, a mobile command unit was unveiled for Santa Barbara County fire agencies to handle major emergencies. The unit comes with a fully equipped trailer for communications, mapping, planning and budgeting all on site.

All agencies will be able to use this trailer.

The sheriff's and police departments are also getting new mobile units soon as well, with the same funding.

Andy worked at KCLU from 2016 until 2022.
