Business license fees have been given a preliminary approval by Santa Barbara County, to cover the costs for several departments to review cannabis operations.
The board of supervisors says there could be 150 applications coming in.
The planning and development says it's adding 5 positions to handle the load.
Fees for operators will be in the area of $7000, with a renewal cost of $4500.
There's also a cannabis-related tax proposal on the upcoming June ballot.
The fees will pay for, among other things, license verifications, quality control plans, site visits, cultivation plans, pesticide use, and security.
