Rising Antisemitsm and How We Address It

Rising Antisemitsm and How We Address It

Rising Antisemitism and How We Address It is a topic to be presented by two regional leaders of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) during an online Community Forum on Saturday, March 11 at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

Antisemitism in the United States has spiked 34 percent since 2021, according to the ADL. Dan Meisel, Regional Director of the organization's Santa Barbara/Tri-Counties Office, will talk about some unique aspects of contemporary antisemitism, factors contributing to its recent resurgence, and how to wield truth in response to its various iterations.

"Antisemitism is, at its core, a conspiracy theory, and its recent resurgence coincides with a disturbing proliferation of conspiracies and political agendas," Meisel said about the message he will present.

Mark Goldstein, chair of the ADL Santa Barbara/Tri-Counties Regional Board, will talk about local efforts against antisemitic bigotry and hate.

Meisel was a First Amendment and general litigation attorney before assuming his role at the regional Anti-Defamation League office serving Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Goldstein is an intellectual property attorney at SoCal IP Law Group with offices in Westlake Village and Santa Barbara.

The Community Forum is a program of Chalice Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Conejo Valley. The event is free by registering for a Zoom link at forum.chaliceuu.org.
