45th Scandinavian Festival
45th Scandinavian Festival
The 45th festival of Nordic cultures, the largest such event in Southern California, features music, dancing, cooking and craft demonstrations, specialty Nordic craft vendors, and activities for people of all ages. Festivalgoers can frolic with lovable Norwegian elkhounds, decorate head wreaths with flowers and ribbon and visit an authentic Viking village and a Saami sliddastallan, or community gathering. Younger Vikings also can enjoy Hans Christian Andersen puppet shows and make free Scandinavian craft souvenirs. Food is always a highlight of festival. Taste delicious lefse, Viking dogs, Scandinavian pastries and aebleskivers. Scandia and Swedish dance groups, musical guests and headliner ABBAFAB, a tribute to the Swedish pop group ABBA, will perform on the main stage. Admission is $15 for adults and free for children age 12 and younger. Service dogs are the only pets allowed. The festival is produced by the Scandinavian American Cultural and Historical Foundation.
