It was a big night for KCLU, as the station won 11 Golden Mikes for excellence in journalism at the 74th annual Golden Mike Awards show.

KCLU News Director Lance Orozco won six awards—including one for live coverage of Hurricane Hilary—and others for best political, business, environmental, science, and sports reporting.

KCLU's Caroline Feraday won three Golden Mikes, including the award for best reporting for her look at the tragic death of a pilot. She also won awards for best entertainment and writing.

And, KCLU's Michelle Loxton won honors for best news and feature podcasts, for her episodes of The One Oh One on infamous Ventura County crime and a look at what happens to the ocean floor after oil platforms are decommissioned.

The Golden Mikes honor the best in Southern and Central California broadcast journalism and were presented by the Radio Television News Association at the group's 74th annual awards show in Universal City. KCLU competes in the small radio station division, winning more Golden Mikes than any other station in the division.
