It marks a significant milestone in the construction project to create a new train depot in Goleta.
"This will be the actual steel frame construction," explained Goleta Assistant City Manager Jaime Valdez. "This is really like establishing the skeleton. All the underground utilities are done."
Valdez said when the project is complete—around a year from now—it will be transformative for the region.
"All this was done in anticipation of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, getting more people on the train. It's essentially located right near the airport, right by UCSB, right by Goleta, and the greater South Coast. We feel it's a fantastic use of space and it'll be something that will serve the community for many, many years to come...for decades."
