A townhall event called Pride and Resilience is being held on Thursday from 6-9pm at Cal Lutheran University's Lundring Event Center

It's Pride Month, and one event is more about discussion than celebration.

A Town Hall event will offer a chance to assess the LGBTQ+ community’s political, social, and cultural challenges in today’s America.

"There's a lot of confusion and fear, especially the transgender community," said organizer Celia Sandhya Daniels, President of Stonewall Democrats in Ventura County. She said communication is a pathway to better understanding.

"When we listen to each other, we will definitely have that little bit of compassion, a little bit of kindness in our hearts, rather than this unknown factor of not knowing about a community and just calling it a lifestyle. This is my life," added Celia.

Pride and Resilience will be held on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Cal Lutheran University’s Lundring Events Center.
