Santa Maria Regional Transit will put regional routes to New Cuyama, Lompoc and Vandenberg Space Force Base, and the Santa Ynez Valley under its banner.

Some Central Coast bus service is being consolidated in order to make it more efficient, as well as simpler for riders to use.

Santa Maria Regional Transit is rebranding its regional service.

It’s currently operating buses to the Santa Ynez Valley, Vandenberg Space Force Base and Lompoc, and to New Cuyama under the “Breeze Bus” name.

Starting July 1, the three routes will be a regular part of the Santa Maria Regional Transit system’s route structure. Riders will be able to use the systems bus passes on the regional routes, with standardized fares.

The integration is also expected to mean more efficiency for the routes, with shared drivers, buses, and costs. The hope is that riders will get a more seamless experience, especially if they ride on both the regional and local bus routes.
