Chinese officials are angered that a bipartisan congressional delegation met with Taiwan's President at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

A Ventura County museum has been targeted for sanctions by an entire nation.

China has imposed sanctions on the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, because the library hosted a meeting with Taiwan’s President. It angered Chinese leaders.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley was the site of talks between a bipartisan group of congressional leaders, and Tsai Ing-wen, the President of Taiwan.

China has contended for decades that Taiwan is part of its territory, and has refused to recognize the island nation. Relations have already been rocky between the U.S. and China, and political observers say the meeting, followed by statements of support for Taiwan, made them worse.

The Chinese government also issued sanctions against a Washington, DC based think tank which hosted the Taiwanese President.

The actions are largely symbolic. The sanctions mean that China will not cooperate with the two U.S. institutions.

The Presidential Library issued a statement saying that Ronald Reagan believed in the exchange of ideas, and that they are proud to have hosted the meeting.
