Blue Angels are co-headlining the Point Mugu Air Show

Point Mugu gears up for the highly-anticipated return of their airshow, after a five-year gap.

It will be a rare opportunity to see two of the world’s best aerobatics teams, the Navy’s Blue Angels and the Air Force's Thunderbirds, in one show.

Point Mugu Airshow returns on Saturday and Sunday with a free show for the public, and a day for Navy families on Friday.

"It doesn't happen very often," explained Drew Verbis, from Naval Base Ventura County. He says it may happen for a special event like the Super Bowl.

"You're going to get the Super Bowl of air shows here at Point Mugu," said Verbis.

Verbis said there is also an opportunity to get up-close and personal with the pilots in a meet and greet in Ventura on Friday evening at 6.30pm.

Point Mugu Airshow is free and runs Saturday and Sunday at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu. Gates open at 8 a.m.
