Part of Highway 1 south of Lompoc has closures for post-storm repairs

Many parts of the Tri-Counties have been impacted by the latest winter storms.

Emergency repairs to a stretch of Highway 1 between Lompoc and the 101 have resulted in a lane closure and 24/7 one-way traffic control – as well as full highway closures at times.

"Essentially the roadway washed out during the storm and now we are doing emergency repairs to get it fixed, " explained Alexa Bertola from Cal Trans.

Bertola told KCLU that travelers are being encouraged to detour the repairs, which are around one-half mile north of Jalama Road. And to instead use State Route 246, and to allow extra time for the journey.

Repairs are expected to be complete within three weeks, weather permitting.
