A year on, the war in Ukraine has cost thousands of lives and displaced millions of people. People like Tatyana Marchenko.
She left her home in Mykolaiv and is now living in Santa Barbara, where a rally is being held this weekend in support of Ukraine.
"Through the last year, when the war started, my body was here but my soul was there," she told KCLU.
Marchenko says having support from the local community on the South Coast means "a great deal," as it makes her feel less alone in the situation.
The rally, organized by World Dance for Humanity, is open to all and starts on Saturday at noon outside Santa Barbara Courthouse.
