Man shot to death in Santa Barbara County

An impromptu memorial has popped up at the Thousand Oaks intersection where a pro-Israeli demonstrator was fatally injured Sunday.

A Lompoc man was fatally wounded on the Central Coast over the weekend and a suspect has been arrested for the killing.

One man is dead and a second is behind bars following a weekend shooting on the Central Coast.

It happened at around 11:30 Friday night on the 600 block of North Fourth Street in Lompoc.

Police were called to the scene by reports of a shooting. Officers say they found a man on the ground with multiple bullet wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The 22-year-old man’s name hasn’t been released yet.

Investigators say they quickly identified a suspect in the killing. 20-year-old Benito Martinez was arrested on a murder charge. There’s no word on what detectives think led to the killing.
