The Pismo beach ISA World Para Surfing Championship features top para surfers from around the world, competing to demonstrate their skill, power and performance.

"Every Olympic sport has a para parallel equivalent for adaptive athletes", explained Dana Cummings - the president and founder of AmpSurf who organize the event.

"This is our world games for para surfing," he said.

He says Pismo Beach is a great spot for the world championships.

"It's very accessible and there's great viewing so everything is set up for them to succeed," said Cummings.

The Pismo beach ISA World Para Surfing Championship takes place until December 11.
