There’s a sad end to the search for a missing motorcyclist on the South Coast.

John Mario Fuegos of Lompoc was last seen riding his motorcycle May 24.

The CHP, and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies, conducted a ground and air search in the region after he was reported missing, but no trace of him was found.

On Sunday, CHP officers were investigating a traffic accident on Highway 101 near the Gaviota tunnel when they discovered a wrecked motorcycle, and a body in some bushes near the roadway.

It was the missing 50-year-old Central Coast man. The CHP has launched an investigation to try to determine what occurred.
