Body Of Missing Central Coast Motorcyclist Found Weeks After His Disappearance

The body of missing Lompoc motorcyclist John Mario Fuego was discovered off of Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County Sunday, weeks after his disappearance.

CHP officers found the motorcycle wreckage and body during an unrelated accident investigation.

There’s a sad end to the search for a missing motorcyclist on the South Coast.

John Mario Fuegos of Lompoc was last seen riding his motorcycle May 24.

The CHP, and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies, conducted a ground and air search in the region after he was reported missing, but no trace of him was found.

On Sunday, CHP officers were investigating a traffic accident on Highway 101 near the Gaviota tunnel when they discovered a wrecked motorcycle, and a body in some bushes near the roadway.

It was the missing 50-year-old Central Coast man. The CHP has launched an investigation to try to determine what occurred.
