Santa Barbara City College got an interim Superintendent/President Wednesday

Move comes just three days after unexpected resignation of Santa Barbara City College leader

A South Coast college reeling from the sudden, and unexpected departure of its Superintendent/President now has an interim leader.

Dr. Utpal Goswami resigned as Superintendent/President of the Santa Barbara City College on Monday, following two special Board of Trustees meetings in the last week.

He joined SBCC in January of 2020. There’s still no word on what led to the action.

Trustees appointed Dr. Helen Benjamin as interim Superintendent/President. It’s the second time she’s come out of retirement to help the college. She previously served as SBCC’s interim leader for several months in 2019.
