Santa Barbara County Approves $1.35 Billion Dollar Budget

No program, job cuts for third year in row

Santa Barbara County Supervisors have approved a $1.35 billion dollar budge for the upcoming fiscal year which avoids program or service cuts despite the pandemic.

It's the third year in a row the county has been able to maintain service levels. The County received more than $40 million dollars in federal COVID-19 relief funds, which help offset costs related to the crisis.

Tax revenue remained solid for the county, and cannabis tax revenue was stronger than expected. The county also set aside money for some special projects, including money for a homeless shelter in Isla Vista and more than $5 million dollarsfor acapitol improvements.
