Shock, Grief Over Death Of Oxnard Police Officer

Grief counselors were on hand at a South Coast high school Thursday, as students and faculty members found out that an Oxnard Police Officer assigned to their campus died in a traffic accident. Officer Nathan Martin had just left the police station after work Wednesday afternoon when he headed eastbound on Third Street on his motorcycle. Investigators say a big rig made a left turn in front of him near Campton Drive, and the officer collided with it.

He died at a hospital a short time later. The 45 year old served the department in a number of capacities. He was currently the School Resource Officer at Hueneme High School. Martin is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
