It’s The Red Hot Chilli PIPERS – (NOT the Peppers!) -- a 9-piece ensemble consisting of pipers, guitarists, keyboards, and drummers -- who have been rocking the world from New York to Beijing to Melbourne and everywhere in between with musicianship of the highest order and a passion for pipes that will leave you breathless. The band has four music degrees from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and all the pipers and drummers have played at the top level in bagpiping.

Yuja Wang and Víkingur Ólafsson join forces for an unforgettable night of four-handed keyboard mastery. An acclaimed visionary interpreter of such monuments of the piano repertoire as J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Ólafsson has received Opus Klassik’s Solo Recording Instrumental of the Year twice since his debut with Deutsche Grammophon in 2017.

Animal welfare non-profit Canine Adoption and Rescue League (C.A.R.L.) will welcome canine superheroes and their owners to the 2023 Pooch Parade Dog Walk and Pet Expo on Sunday, September 24, at Ventura Harbor Village on the grassy area. With this year’s theme of “Superheroes,” participants will have opportunities to dress themselves and their dogs up as their favorite fictional comic book character. Canine contestants will be eligible for ribbons, prizes and a grand award going to the “Top Dog” of the Pooch Parade. The event will feature an emcee, Ken Vela, who served as emcee at the 2018 and 2019 Pooch Parades, vendors, a silent auction and a Frisbee demonstration with dogs.

Join the Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation for a festive concert featuring Santa Barbara’s beloved 80-member Prime Time Band on Friday, July 4th at 5:00 PM, located at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Gardens (1100 Anacapa St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101).

Please join Santa Barbara Permaculture Network on Thursday, February 20, for a special evening with naturalist, illustrator, and award winning author Obi Kaufmann, sharing his timely book The State of Fire, Why California Burns.

From the creator of The California Field Atlas, Obi Kaufmann shares a book of stewardship, resilience, and hope. Fire is an essential part of California’s ecology and humans have been using it to shape the California landscape for thousands of years. But today many Californians’ relationship to fire is primarily one of fear.
