Teen Art Program: Printmaking with Sketchcrow!
Young Artists ... want to bring your drawings to life? Want to learn how to use carving tools? Want to meet other teenagers who are interested in art?
Join us for this six week class to learn the basic principles of carved linoleum block printmaking. Cesar Aldana (@sketchcrow), local artist, printmaker, educator, and OPAC favorite will guide us step-by-step through the history of this powerful art form. He'll share some history, examples, design ideas, and step-by-step instructions of how to cut your design into a linoleum block and then how to use your carved block to create prints.
If you have one, please bring your sketchbook and/or, some sketches you might like to develop into a print.
* Class, materials, and lunch are FREE for attendees thanks to our amazing, generous donors.
* All skill levels are welcome.
* Ages 13-18

Petra Griffith, managing director and CEO of Wedbush Ventures, will be joining us as part of the Entrepreneur Speaker Series.

Goleta Valley Art Association to Celebrate Renewal/Re-entry: Bringing Art Back to the Community at La Cumbre Plaza
The Goleta Valley Art Association will host an art festival featuring original works by local artists on Saturday, August 21, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at La Cumbre Plaza.
The show will be mounted in the outdoor mall area of the plaza and give visitors the opportunity to view and purchase the association’s artwork as well as that of artists affiliated with the La Cumbre Center for Creative Arts, which established three work/display galleries in October 2019.
“This is an opportunity for our association to once again celebrate our vision of ‘Bringing Art to the Community,’ said Elizabeth Flanagan, president of the organization. “We’re very excited to be hosting this show in cooperation with the La Cumbre Center for Creative Arts. Several of the LCCCA artists also are members of GVAA.”
