  • Join us for a curatorial talk from Robyn Wallace and Elana Kundell discussing Studio Channel Islands current exhibition, Transformed. Trans is a Latin prefix, meaning across, beyond, or into another state or place.

Until the morning of November 6th, 2024, the objects on display were tools for living and creating.
On that day, the preternatural forces of the Mountain Fire brought them into another state of being, and our community of Camarillo joined millions of people, plants, and animals around the globe who have undergone a radical transformation as a results of catastrophic natural disasters. Whether functional or sentimental; machine or hand made, the history and functionality of these objects has been displaced by a patina that puts our own existence in perspective.
Like us, they are survivors, unified by the scars of the fire.
